How to Test Natural Gas Regulators in the Meter Shop
The platform has evolved over the last 10 years. The combo of understanding client requirements and then customized engineering design, fabrication, assembly, testing and commissioning provides our clients with a Regulator Testing Machine (RTM) desgned to in-test all the regulators in their inventory.
The basic RTM platform is manual with the Smart Track APP providing all the information the operator needs to test and record results for each regulator. The automated ARTM is based on a 19-in touchscreen.
The Basic RTM provides a safe, reliable and accurate means for in-testing according to ANSI B109.4 and the soon to be released ANSI B109.5 for pressure regulators with delivery pressures greater than 2 psig.
The RTM provides the following features -
o IRV and OPSO testing
o Monitor regulator testing
o NPT and flange connections up to 3-in. diameter
o Inlet supply pressure up to 150 psig
o Outlet delivery pressure up to 50 psig
o Flow rates up to 600 scfh
o flow rate control
o Smart Track APP providing
- Pull down menu with test criteria for each reg
- Recording and reporting test results
The Smart Track APP provides an easy to use software tool by first making all the information about each pressure regulator available to the meter shop technician.
Then the technician selects the regulator to be tested from the "pull down" menu. Once selected the regulator properties and the specific pass/fail cirteria for that particular regulator populate the Smart Track window.
The operator conducts set point, lockup, IRV and OPSO tests. The pass or fail results are logged to the Smart Track database and the test report is saved and printed for a hard copy record.
